Look, we get that it’s overwhelming buying glasses- they all look the same and when you just see a sea of frames (geddit?!), you don’t know where to begin.
It’s no easier to know which opticians to choose when you are looking for a new one- aren’t they all the same.

No one wants to feel like they are on a conveyor belt- you want to be remembered, feel comfortable, truly relaxed and even have a laugh- we really do make this possible!
Our job is to hold your hand every step of the way, explain what we are doing and why, giving you time to ask questions all along the way.
We’ll ask you a few simple questions to work out your specs style, find the frames you like, give you our very honest opinions(!), explain about lens options and your glasses will be ready in a couple of weeks!
We’ll then let you be on your way, back to your life outside our blue doors until your awesome glasses are ready for you!
Hey, I’m Harps and I’m the co-founder of Harper & Cooper Opticians.
I remember the feeling of seeing everything so clearly when I sat with the Optometrist when I had my first specs aged 10 - it was amazing.
It wasn’t amazing when I was only offered 2 choices of NHS frames- the exact words used to describe them was “do you want the Clear coloured pair or the Flesh coloured pair?”
I did not leave that opticians feeling great about my frame choice and have vowed ever since that everyone deserves to have great specs.
I’ve worked in an optical practice since I was 18, when I was studying for my A Levels and just loved everything about it. As a classic problem solver, it was a natural career path for me. “You cant see? Oh look, I can give you some specs to help you with that!”
Nothing beats the feeling of solving someone’s visual issues and that hasn’t left me, 25 years later from when I first started.
My first business was an extremely successful Boots Opticians Franchise when I was 26 years old- I always wanted to be my own boss and was fed up working crazy hard for very little reward or appreciation. If I was going to work THAT hard, I was going to do it for myself and take the rewards myself!
After 17 years with Boots Opticians, Dips and I decided to take on a different business and try a start up opticians with a Danish brand.
Well, that was a brief and difficult lesson(!).
We learnt a lot and after 15 months we worked out that it wasn’t for us and decided to go it alone with Harper & Cooper Opticians, which we started from scratch. Now was the chance for us to truly create something for ourselves and it’s been a journey!
Hi, I’m Amardip, you can call me Dips. I’m the co-founder of Harper & Cooper Opticians.
I’ve been qualified since 2004 and have a special interest reading difficulties (such as Dyslexia and Visual Stress) and dry eye.
It’s my job to make sure you and your eyes are looked after and offer the best advice to help you look after your vision.
So, when you come in for your appointment, I’ll put the kettle on and you can relax and be assured that you and your eyes are looked after.
